My Mission

My name is Richard Lane Jr. I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s on the tough streets of Los Angeles, CA. Despite the challenges, my active participation in sports, especially football and basketball, spared me from much of the hardship. Raised in the shadow of my accomplished father, I found solace in his spirit, as my parents’ relationship was brief. This inner drive pushed me to excel both as a person and an athlete.

In the early 2000s, residing in Houston, Texas, I faced a unique opportunity leading my estranged brothers in upholding our father’s legacy. This path led us to join a significant lawsuit with other NFL families, advocating for players potentially affected by CTE. Following the lawsuit’s resolution, we were inspired to share our father’s story and honor forgotten players of football’s golden era. Pooling our resources, we formed an LLC to produce a documentary recounting the remarkable journey of my father, “Night Train,” an influential figure in professional football across Los Angeles, Detroit, and Chicago.

If my story hasn’t captured your attention yet, stay tuned for our documentary’s release. Witness the extraordinary tale of a beloved sports figure and his passion for life, people, and the game.

Who Am I

My name is Richard Lane Jr. – I grew up in the 1960’s – 1970’s on the rough gangsta streets of Los Angeles, CA. I was spared much of the rough stuff due to my involvement in all sports but loved my Football and Basketball of which I was a standout player. Growing up in the shadows of my accomplished father was very easy for me because I grew up with only his Spirit within me, since my mother & father only shared a short-term relationship. This driving spirit drove me to be the best and smartest person and athlete I could be.

Night Train Lane was not only a fearless defender who pioneered the way the Corner Back positioned should & would be played, he is often credited with changing the game forever.  Night Train was always thinking of ways to stop the opponent in his tracks by “Stopping them from gaining another Inch”.

Many of the legal & extremely effective techniques he used were banned by the NFL, mainly for players safety but were deemed controversially to dangerous for a family viewed event. Yes, this was during the new Super Bowl and Television viewing era.

UNBREAKABLE!
14 INTERCEPTIONS IN A 12-GAME SEASON

During his Historic 1952 Rookie Season, Night Train quickly established himself as a Fearless Hunter in search of Picks whenever and however he could get them. For 70 years & counting, he has held the NFL Interceptions Record, 14 Interceptions in 1 season, which still stands today and in all Major Sports Records books. Many NFL Greats have come after, but none have come seriously close to Breaking this mark. In 2021 the NFL Season went to 17 games with QB’s throwing the ball over 35 times per game.
